Benjamin Watson is entering his first season as the defensive line coach and assistant film director for Union football.

In his playing days, Watson spent four years at the University of the Cumberlands as a linebacker and long snapper.

Following that, he spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons as a special teams graduate assistant for the Patriots. The unit averaged 41.5 yards per punt in 2021, which ranked seventh in the NAIA. In 2022, the unit placed eighth with an average of 40.1 yards per punt.

Watson graduated from Powell County High School in 2017. In 2022, he graduated from Cumberlands with degrees in both education and history. The Clay City, Ky., native is entering his third season as a college football coach.

Watson is part of a defensive coaching staff that is entering its first season at Union.
