Union’s Byron Gee named AAC Defensive Player of the Week

Barbourville, Ky. – Union defensive lineman Byron Gee has been named the Appalachia Athletic Conference (AAC) Defensive Player of the Week.

He is the third Union Bulldog to receive the award this season as he joins Tramonte Gardner and Noah Steen on that list.

Gee registered nine total tackles, two TFLs, and 1.5 sacks at Bluefield. It marks the fourth time this season that Gee has tallied at least 1.5 sacks in a game.

He has tallied 13.5 TFLs this season, which ranks third in the AAC and is tied for 18th in the NAIA. He has recorded 8.5 sacks this season, which leads the AAC and is tied for seventh in the NAIA.

Up next for Gee and the Bulldogs is a home conference game against Kentucky Christian on Saturday, Nov. 11, in a Senior Day matchup for Union.
