
Union baseball falls against No. 9 Cumberlands
Barbourville, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University baseball team faced off against No. 9 Cumberlands at home on Tuesday. UCU fell 15-1 in seven innings.
The Bulldogs tallied seven hits in the game, with Nathan McCabe leading the way, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Isaiah Pintor, Ernesto Moreno, Raebert De Los Santos, Brysen Vernon, and Jayden Gonzalez each added a hit.
Pintor drove in the Bulldogs' lone run, while Vernon crossed the plate to score.
On the mound, Grayson Makranyi got the start, throwing 1.2 innings. Braylon Greene followed with two innings, Gunner Bleha pitched 2.1, and Christian McCollough closed with a full inning.
The Bulldogs' pitching staff combined for four strikeouts—McCollough recorded two, while Makranyi and Bleha each notched one.
The Bulldogs are now 8-23 this season, while Cumberlands is 25-6. Up next for Union is an away conference matchup at Bluefield on Friday, March 28, at 3:00 p.m.
