Union baseball falls in series opener at Reinhardt

Waleska, Ga. - The Union Commonwealth University baseball team opened its three-game conference series at Reinhardt on Thursday. The Bulldogs fell 15-10 in game one. 

UCU's offense tallied 13 hits in the matchup. Raebert De Los Santos led the way, going 3-for-5, while Hunter Pinkston and Brysen Vernon each recorded two hits. Jayden Gonzalez, Logan Romasanta, Nick Seelman, Aaron Barrera, Gunnar Kale, and Cooper Tomkinson each contributed one. 

Barrera accounted for two of the Bulldogs' 10 runs, with Pinkston, Gonzalez, Romasanta, Seelman, Santos, Kale, Tomkinson, and Vernon each crossing the plate once. UCU drove in nine runs, with Tomkinson leading the charge with three RBIs. De Los Santos and Pinkston added two apiece, while Gonzalez and Vernon each recorded one. 

Santos and Vernon both notched a double, while the Bulldogs swiped three bases—Kale stealing two and Vernon one. 

On the mound, Romasanta got the start, throwing six innings and striking out four. Tucker Allen and Nathan Van Beek came on in relief to close out the game.

The Bulldogs are now 8-16 (1-8 AAC) this season, while Reinhardt is 19-4 (9-4 AAC). UCU closes out the series with Reinhardt with the final two games set for Friday, March 14, at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
