
Union baseball drops series at Johnson
Knoxville, Tenn. - The Union Commonwealth University baseball team wrapped up their series at Johnson on Monday. The Bulldogs fell 9-7 in the final game. With the loss, UCU dropped the series 2-1.
Brendan Hillis, Nick Seelman, and Brysen Vernon each went 2-for-4 at the plate in the matchup. Vernon led the trio with three RBIs, while Seelman added one. Seelman also crossed the plate twice, with Hillis scoring once. Vernon capped off his performance with a triple.
Logan Romasanta, Aaron Barrera, and Tucker Allen each had a hit, while Barrera added a double and two RBIs. Jayden Gonzalez, Ernesto Moreno, Jonathan Miles, and Isaiah Pintor each scored a run.
Tanner Hayes took the mound as the starting pitcher for the Bulldogs, with Braylon Greene, Christian McCollough, and Jackson Clark also making appearances on the mound.
McCollough led the pitching staff with two strikeouts, while Hayes, Greene, and Clark each recorded one. Both Clark and McCollough delivered scoreless outings. Clark also didn't allow a hit during his time on the mound.
The Bulldogs are now 5-8 (1-4 AAC) this season, while Johnson is 9-3 (2-1 AAC). Up next for Union is a home doubleheader against Cleary on Friday, Feb. 28, at noon.
