Union baseball falls against No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan

Logansport, Ind. - The Union College baseball team faced a formidable opponent in No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday in a nine-inning contest. The final score was 10-4 in favor of Indiana Wesleyan.

The Bulldogs went scoreless until the top of the fourth inning. Nathan McCabe kickstarted the offensive drive with a single.

On the ensuing at bat, Luke Pell reached base on an error. Tyler Bean hit a timely two-RBI double. The Bulldogs trailed 6-2 in the middle of the fourth inning.

In the ninth inning, Union baseball put together a late-game surge. In the first at bat of the season, Alberto Johnson recorded his first hit of the young season.

Later in the side, the Bulldogs had the bases loaded with two outs when Aaron Barrera was hit by a pitch to score Johnson. On the ensuing at bat, Clariot capitalized on a wild pitch to score Union's fourth run of the game. The Bulldogs fell 10-4.

Hunter Rossi, Jose Perez, and Braylon Greene made an appearance on the mound for the Bulldogs in the matchup. Rossi recorded four strikeouts, while Perez gave up only one hit and no runs during his time on the mound. Greene allowed just one earned run.

The Bulldogs are now 2-3 this season, while Indiana Wesleyan is 2-1. Up next for Union is a doubleheader against Aquinas on Sunday, Feb. 11. The games are slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
