Daniel Carlton breaks program record for men’s compound

Barbourville, Ky. - On Friday, at the 2024 USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals, Union Commonwealth University's Daniel Carlton broke Union's record in the men's compound division.

During qualifications, Carlton shot 351 during round one and 350 in round two for a total score of 701. Overall, he hit 56 tens and 30 Xs, while recording an arrow average of 9.736.

Carlton's final score of 701 broke the school record for men's compound. The previous men's compound record of 698 was held by recent 2023 graduate Lane Brandt.

"Daniel's dedication to the sport of archery is truly remarkable, he truly deserves to be on top," said head coach Robert Dunaway. "There's very few collegiate archers out there that put in as many hours as him. He does this while working a full-time job and working on a master's degree. Daniel's knowledge of archery and the bow and arrow itself is astonishing and an invaluable asset to this team and especially to myself."
