Union has 25 spring sport student-athletes named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes

Barbourville, Ky. – The 2024 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes were recently announced for spring sports. Union Commonwealth University had a total of 25 student-athletes receive the honor.

According to an official NAIA release, "To be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale; appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended one full year at said institution."

Union baseball ranked third nationally among baseball programs with 18 Scholar-Athletes: Aidan Rush, Alberto Johnson, Avery Worde, Carter Finlay, Christian McCollough, Colton Stegman, Dalton Kottmer, Drew Hawkins, Dylan Hetzler, Garomme Hanna, Jackson Holcombe, Jude Haser, Luke Pell, Mark Prewitt, Nathaniel Turner, Nicholas Seelman, Robert Finch, and Theron Sons.

Union softball had seven selected as Scholar-Athletes, which is the second most by any Union program for the 2023-24 school year: Adriann Strouth, Hannah Johnson, Kayla Richardson, Sarah Lowe, Shaylin Lewis, Shelby Easton, and Taylor Whisonant.

Throughout the 2023-24 school year, Union had a total of 44 named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete. In addition to these 25; the Bulldogs had 10 earn this distinction for fall sports, while nine were selected from winter sports.
