The Bulldogs fall in four sets at Pikeville

Pikeville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University volleyball team played at Pikeville on Saturday. The Bulldogs fell short as Pikeville won 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-20, 25-21).

UCU's Raquel Kessler led all players in kills with 21, while Emily Shumaker tallied seven. Maddy McGaughey led Union in assists with 18, while Yanelis Turbi recorded 13.

The Bulldogs had five players register double digit digs. Kessler led the Bulldogs in digs with 19, while McKenna Pickett tallied 17 and McGaughey totaled 15.

Nicole Almestica accounted for 13 digs, while Lara Gomes De Castro tallied 12. Shumaker recorded nine digs.

The Bulldogs are now 8-14 (6-6 AAC) this season, while Pikeville is 13-7 (8-4 AAC). Up next for UCU is a road conference game against Bluefield on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m.
