The Bulldogs win in three sets over KCU

Grayson, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University volleyball team picked up a victory on Tuesday night at Kentucky Christian. The Bulldogs won 3-0 (25-16, 25-8, 25-21).

Emily Shumaker and Raquel Kessler each tallied a game-leading eight kills. Maddy McGaughey led Union in assists with 12, while Sarah Charkosky recorded seven.

McGaughey registered 13 digs, which was tied for the most in the matchup. Kessler totaled eight digs, while Lara Gomes De Castro tallied five and McKenna Pickett recorded four. Kessler led the matchup in total blocks with six.

"We got what we wanted on a conference road trip with a quick 3-0 win," said Union head coach Jeremy Wise. "Had to make a few more adjustments. It was good to see them focus, follow a good plan, and keep their focus tonight."

The Bulldogs are now 4-8 (2-1 AAC) this season, while KCU is 0-9 (0-2 AAC). Up next for UCU is a home conference match against No. 23 Columbia International on Friday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m.
