Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University women's soccer team hosted Georgetown on Saturday in each team's season-opening match.
The first half was scoreless, but each team scored in the second half. In the 51st minute, Union's Estrella Guerrero scored off an assist by Shaylynn Bentley. In the 68th minute, Georgetown countered as Laura Beumala scored. The game resulted in a 1-1 tie.
Union totaled eight shots with four shots on goal. Georgetown tallied 12 shots with nine shots on goal. UCU goalie Chiara Isanto registered eight saves, while Georgetown's Daysia Thompson recorded three.
Each team is now 0-0-1 on the season. Up next for Union is a home match against Alice Lloyd on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 5:30 p.m.
