Bluefield, Va. – The Union Commonwealth University women's basketball team won 61-53 at Bluefield on Wednesday. UCU never trailed in the matchup. Union led by as many as 15 points.
Union's Madison Brady registered 25 points and nine rebounds, which led all players in each category. Rachel Smith totaled 14 points and six rebounds, while McKenzi Himes tallied 13 points and seven rebounds.
Gracie Jervis, Ja'Naia Moran, Emrey Glover, and Sarah Smith also scored for UCU. Jervis tallied four assists and three steals.
Moran registered a game-leading six steals in addition to a game-leading five assists. Bluefield registered four assists and seven steals. UCU had 41 bench points, while the Rams registered three.
The Bulldogs are now 4-12 (3-7 AAC) this season, while Bluefield is 2-12 (2-8 AAC). Up next for UCU is a road conference game against Brenau on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 2:00 p.m.
