Union falls 78-76 to Brescia

Kingsport, Tenn. – The Union Commonwealth University women's basketball team played against Brescia on Sunday. It was the second of two games for Union in The Show, which is being hosted in Kingsport, Tenn. The Bulldogs began the game with a 12-0 run, but fell short 78-76.

UCU was faced with foul trouble in the contest as three starters fouled out of the game. Two Bulldogs finished the matchup with four fouls.

Union's Rachel Smith led all scorers with 21 points, while going 5-of-9 from 3-point range. Madison Brady recorded 15 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Brady was 3-of-4 from 3-PT range.

Ja'Naia Moran tallied 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Rayna Duzant accounted for eight points, while going 2-of-3 from 3-point range. Gracie Jervis registered seven points, a game-leading six assists, and a team-leading four steals.

Lindsey Pirkle recorded five points and five rebounds, while Emrey Glover totaled four points and McKenzi Himes tallied three points. Pirkle and Moran were tied for the most rebounds in the contest by any Bulldog. UCU was 14-of-30 from 3-PT range, while registering 20 assists and 35 points off turnovers.

The Bulldogs are now 2-7 this season, while Brescia is 8-2. Up next for Union is a road conference game against Milligan on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 5:30 p.m.
