UCU falls against No. 11 Georgetown

Kingsport, Tenn. – The Union Commonwealth University women's basketball team played against No. 11 Georgetown on Friday night.

This was the first of two games that Union will be playing in this weekend as part of The Show, which is hosted in Kingsport, Tenn.

The Bulldogs fell short 94-51. Union's Madison Brady recorded 26 points and eight rebounds, which led all players in each category. Brady registered 23 minutes of playing time.

Brady was not the only UCU post player to put up a notable performance as McKenzi Himes tallied 14 points and six rebounds off 5-of-6 shooting from the floor. Himes totaled 17 minutes in playing time.

Rachel Smith, Ja'Naia Moran, Emrey Glover, and Claire Belcher also scored for UCU. Moran accounted for three assists and three steals, which led the team in each category. Freshman Lindsey Pirkle recorded a game-leading two blocks.

The Bulldogs are now 2-6 this season, while Georgetown is 6-1. Up next for UCU is a matchup against Brescia on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 2:30 p.m.
