Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University women's basketball team defeated IU Columbus 91-58 on Tuesday. It marked the Bulldogs' first home game of the 2024-25 regular season.
Union center Madison Brady registered a tremendous performance. She tallied 34 points and 13 rebounds, while going 14-of-23 from the floor and 6-of-6 at the free-throw line in 20 minutes of playing time.
Brady led all players in scoring and rebounding. Brady also tallied nine offensive rebounds, while IU Columbus totaled seven.
Rachel Smith and Ja'Naia Moran each registered 12 points, while McKenzi Himes totaled 10. Gracie Jervis scored nine points, while Rayna Duzant tallied six. Lindsey Pirkle, Sarah Smith, and Claire Belcher also scored for UCU.
Smith and Jervis each totaled a game-leading seven assists. The Bulldogs tallied 26 assists, while IU Columbus tallied five. The Bulldogs won the rebounding battle 54-20.
The Bulldogs are now 1-1 this season, while IU Columbus is 0-3. Up next for Union is a home conference game against Bluefield on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 5:30 p.m.
