Union extends win streak to nine after 4-1 victory over Pikeville

Barbourville, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University men's soccer team secured a 4-1 victory over Pikeville on Saturday night. 

Charlie Markland led the Bulldogs with two goals, while Callum Longworth and Ivan Macias Rodriguez added one each. Markland now ranks among the AAC's top five scorers, alongside Callum Edwards, with eight goals this season. 

Longworth contributed two assists, and Biel Vallverdu added one. Vallverdu and Tyler Wheatcroft also sit in the AAC's top five for assists, with six each. 

UCU recorded 29 shots, 12 on target, while Pikeville managed seven shots, four of which were on goal. Goalkeeper Daniel Harrison made three saves during the match. 

With this win, Union extends its unbeaten streak to nine games, maintaining a perfect record in AAC play.


The Bulldogs advanced to 9-1-1 (8-0 AAC) on the season, while Pikeville fell to 2-11-1 (1-6-1 AAC). Up next for Union is a home conference match against Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 7:00 p.m.
