Union golf recap from the Georgetown College Invite
Georgetown, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University men's and women's golf team began their fall campaign at the Georgetown College Invite on Monday and Tuesday.
Men's Golf:
Luke Townhill started off his college career with a 12th-place finish in a competitive field of 30 players. Leading the charge for the Bulldogs, he posted a 76 on Monday. That was followed by a 77 on Tuesday for a total score of 153.
Teammates Kaleb Ellis and Aaron Rigsby also made their college debuts, and finished just behind Townhill. Ellis shot an 80 on Monday and an 88 on Tuesday to end with a total of 168. Rigsby improved from a 98 on Monday to an 82 on Tuesday for a combined score of 180.
Second-year player Bryce Messer returned to action for the Bulldogs. He posted scores of 92 and 93 over the two days for a final total of 185. The Bulldogs did not record a team score for this event.
Women's Golf:
Competing as the only Bulldog on the women's side, Mea Anderson made her debut with scores of 100 on Monday and 97 on Tuesday. Anderson finished with a total of 197 in her first tournament with the team.
Up next for the Bulldogs is the Patriot Invitational beginning on Saturday, Sept. 14.
