Golf teams compete at Mountain Empire Intercollegiate

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. - Four Union College golfers took part in the two-day Mountain Empire Intercollegiate tournament, which wrapped at the Elizabethton (Tenn.) Golf Course on Tuesday.

The lone competitor for the Bulldog women was Kiara Thomas, who shot a two-day score of 189 (+45) to finish in 36th place. Thomas shot an 89 on the second day of play, an 11-stroke improvement from day one.

Of the three Bulldog men to take part, Kedric Chaney had the best performance, shooting an 80 on day one and an 82 on day two, tying for 49th place at 18-over-par.

Teammates Dalton Crook (208, +64) and Jake Medders (235, +91) placed 66th and 67th respectively. Crook cut 14 strokes from his first-day score while Medders improved by nine.

NEXT UP FOR THE BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs are off until the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships in Adairsville, Ga. The men's tournament will be on April 25-26 with the women competing on May 2-3.
