Union wins 86-79 over Oakland City

Kingsport, Tenn. – The Union Commonwealth University men's basketball team played against Oakland City on Saturday.

The matchup marked the first of two contests for UCU in The Show, which is being hosted in Kingsport, Tenn.

Union defeated Oakland City 86-79. The Bulldogs led by as many as 13 points. Dallas Rufus led UCU in scoring with 19 points off 7-of-12 shooting from the floor. Jeremiah Stroman tallied 18 points and nine rebounds.

Luca Stubel registered 12 points and a team-leading five assists, while Sam Conley tallied 12 points and four rebounds. Brian Gilmore Jr. scored nine points.

Ben Underwood recorded seven points and 10 rebounds, which was tied for the most rebounds by any player in the matchup.

Underwood and Stubel each recorded three steals as they were two of four players tied for the most steals in the contest. Kenton Wright, Allister Dixon, and Kenny Garth also scored for Union.

The Bulldogs are now 4-3 this season, while Oakland City is 2-4. Up next for UCU is a matchup against Indiana East on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 11:00 a.m.
