Union baseball wins series at Bluefield

Bluefield, Va. - The Union Commonwealth University baseball team took the final two games of their conference series against Bluefield. The Bulldogs fell 8-2 in game one but bounced back with a 6-2 win in game two and a 3-1 victory in game three.

Game One

Ernesto Moreno, Raebert De Los Santos, Cooper Tomkinson, Isaiah Pintor, and Max Charlton each tallied two hits, while Jayden Gonzalez, Brendan Hillis, and Tucker Allen added one apiece.

Jonathan Miles crossed the plate twice, with Gonzalez, Moreno, De Los Santos, and Charlton each scoring once. The Bulldogs racked up six RBIs—Tomkinson led the way with three, while Allen, Moreno, and Hillis each contributed one.

Allen delivered a double, and Moreno hit a home run. Miles also swiped a base for the Bulldogs.

Logan Romasanta pitched a complete game, earning the win with six strikeouts and no walks over nine innings.

Game Two

Isaiah Pintor led the Bulldogs with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, where he drove in all three of the team's RBIs.

Tomkinson added two hits, while Gunnar Kale, Moreno, De Los Santos, and Brendan Hillis each contributed one. 

De Los Santos, Hillis, and Tomkinson all crossed the plate once. Tomkinson also recorded the team's only double, while De Los Santos swiped the lone stolen base.

Jackson Clark pitched all seven innings, earning the win with five strikeouts.

The Bulldogs are now 10-24 (3-14 AAC), while Bluefield is 15-14 (8-7 AAC). Up next for Union is an away game at Georgetown on Tuesday, April 1, at 2:00 p.m.
