Bluefield, Va. - The Union Commonwealth University baseball team kicked off its conference series at Bluefield on Friday. UCU fell 8-2 in the opener.
The Bulldogs tallied 10 hits in the game, with Gunnar Kale, Jayden Gonzalez, and Ernesto Moreno each going 2-for-4 at the plate. Logan Romasanta, Brysen Vernon, Cooper Tomkinson, and Max Charlton each added a hit, while Kale also notched a double.
Kale and Isaiah Pintor each scored a run, while Moreno and Charlton drove in one run apiece.
Ethan Warren pitched all eight innings and recorded seven strikeouts.
The Bulldogs are now 8-24 (1-14 AAC) this season, Bluefield is 15-12 (8-6 AAC). UCU closes out the series with Bluefield with the final two games set for Saturday, March 29, at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
