
Union baseball falls just short in series against Bryan
Barbourville, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University baseball team faced Bryan in the final game of their three-game conference series on Saturday. The Bulldogs fell 7-6 in nine innings. UCU ultimately fell short, dropping the series 3-0.
Brendan Hillis led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 3-for-5, while Max Charlton finished 1-for-2. Jayden Gonzalez added two hits, and Aaron Barrera contributed one. Charlton crossed the plate twice, with Gonzalez, Hillis, Raebert De Los Santos, and Nick Seelman each scoring once.
Barrera, Hillis, Tucker Allen, and Charlton each drove in a run, while Hillis also notched a triple. Isaiah Pintor added to the offensive effort with a stolen base.
On the mound, Ethan Warren got the start, pitching six innings and recording seven strikeouts. Dalton Kottmer came in for relief, tossing three innings and adding one strikeout.
The Bulldogs are now 8-13 (1-7 AAC) this season, while Bryan is 10-11 (6-5 AAC). Up next for UCU is an away game at Midway on Tuesday, March 11, at 2:00 p.m.
