Union archery earns two gold medals at the MSC 3D Championships
Williamsburg, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University archery team competed in the Mid-South Conference 3D Championships on Saturday.
The Bulldogs competed in individual shootouts, team rounds, and mixed team events. UCU earned two golds, one silver, two bronze, and a fourth-place finish, ending up just behind Pikeville in fourth overall.
Individual Shootdown
In the men's compound, Kapt Brandt secured the gold for the Bulldogs with a final score of 76. Ashley Coffing followed suit in the women's compound, also claiming gold with a final score of 70.
In the men's barebow, Kyle Coffey earned a silver medal for the Bulldogs with a final score of 58, finishing just shy of first place.
Official Team Rounds
The trio of Brandt, Chase Herndon, and Evan Miller secured bronze in the men's team compound event with a final score of 167.
In the women's team compound, the Bulldogs, represented by Ashley Coffing, Ruthie Masengale, and Ava Noehre, finished in fourth place with a final score of 171.
Mixed Team Rounds
In the mixed team compound, Brandt and Coffing secured third place, earning the Bulldogs their second bronze medal of the tournament.They had a total score of 129.
Up next for the Bulldogs is the 2024 USA Archery Collegiate 3D Nationals on Thursday, Oct. 3.
