Union falls short against Reinhardt on Senior Day

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University football team hosted Reinhardt on Saturday afternoon. The matchup featured Senior Day for UCU. Union fell short 49-21.

Prior to the game, the Bulldogs recognized Jamarious McClellan, Jaylin Bybee, Isaiah Osborne, Isaiah Johnson, Andrae Johnson, Drew Mink, Peyton Hatcher, and A'Koiyea Johnson.

The Bulldogs' Taji Jackson scored off a one-yard touchdown run with 3:57 remaining in the first quarter, which capped off a 10-play, 75-yard drive. The score was tied 7-7.

With 0:59 left to play in the second quarter, Union QB Bryson Grabowski connected with Johnson on a 30-yard TD pass. The TD capped off a six-play, 65-yard drive. The score was 28-14, but Reinhardt led 35-14 at halftime.

The Bulldogs' only touchdown of the second half occurred when QB Kolton Chapman connected with Landon McKinley-Newby on a 10-yard TD pass with 9:27 to play in the fourth quarter.

The combination of Grabowski and Chapman went 10-of-18 for 167 yards, two passing touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Taji Jackson tallied 11 carries for 69 yards, which led UCU in each category. Jackson also tallied a rushing TD.

Isaiah Johnson registered five catches for 94 yards, which led all players in each category. Johnson also registered a receiving touchdown.

Keke McMurry led all players with seven total tackles, while Ty Ellis and Zayne Hammack each tallied six. Kam Bradshaw, Isaiah Osborne, and Donell Casey each registered five total tackles. Bradshaw recorded one sack.

The Bulldogs are now 3-7 (2-4 AAC) on the season, while Reinhardt is 7-4 (5-1 AAC).
