Wilmore, Ky. – The Union College volleyball team played a non-conference game on Friday, Oct. 20, at Asbury. Union picked up a win in just three sets.
The Bulldogs tallied 12 kills in the opening set. Union closed the set with a 7-0 run to win the set 25-18 win. Asbury registered 17 kills in the second set, but the Bulldogs won the set 25-22. Union tallied a 10-1 run in the third set, and went on to win the game 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-21).
Union's Raquel Kessler led all players in kills with 13, while Emily Shumaker accounted for 10 and Michaela Cox recorded seven. Maddy McGaughey and Sarah Charkosky each tallied a team-leading 13 assists.
"We were able to study and prep for a team outside of the AAC this week," Union head coach Jeremy Wise said after the game. "We have a JV/Varsity doubleheader in the morning at 11:00 and 1:00 to finish up hopefully a solid week of play late in the season."
The Bulldogs are now 10-15 this season, while Asbury is 9-12. Union plays at Kentucky Christian on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 1:00 p.m.
