Barbourville, Ky. – The Union College women's soccer team hosted No. 22 Truett McConnell on Saturday. Prior to yesterday's matchup, the Bulldogs' previous home game featured a 1-0 win over St. Andrews.
On Saturday, the Lady Bears scored two goals in the first half as Julia Ruiz tallied the first off an assist by Eliska Dvorakova. The second goal of the half was recorded by Dvorakova.
In the second half, Truett McConnell took a 3-0 lead when Nadia Ivanchenko scored an unassisted goal. Union's Lena Visarius scored a goal near the midway point of the second half via an assist by Yardley Polson.
The final score was 3-1 in favor of Truett McConnell. Union goalie Chiara Isanto registered eight saves. The Bulldogs are now 2-5 (2-3 AAC) this season, while the Lady Bears are 4-2-2 (4-0 AAC). Up next for Union is a home conference game against Kentucky Christian on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 5:00 p.m.
