UCU falls in doubleheader against Johnson

Knoxville, Tenn. – The Union Commonwealth University softball team played at Johnson on Tuesday in a doubleheader. The Bulldogs fell short in each game.

 

Game One:

Johnson won 8-0 in five innings. The Bulldogs were unable to register a hit in the matchup. Katie Fister and Lily Marsh pitched in the game for Union.

Fister allowed six earned runs in 3.0 innings pitched, while Marsh allowed three hits and two earned runs in 1.2 innings pitched.

 

Game Two:

Union trailed 5-0 after five innings. In the top of the sixth, UCU scored when Briley Robbins scored off an RBI ground out by Kaliana Pangallo.

In the top of the seventh, Kinsley Redmon scored off a ground out RBI by Tori Turner. On the ensuing at bat, an RBI single by Katie Fister scored Megan Merritt.

The Bulldogs registered 11 hits in the matchup, but Johnson won 5-3 in seven innings. Merritt and Shaylin Lewis each registered three hits as they were two of three players tied for the most hits in the matchup.

Jeweleyette Lilley and Taylor Sain each pitched for UCU. Lilley allowed five earned runs in 5.0 innings pitched, while Sain allowed zero earned runs in 1.0 innings pitched.

 

The Bulldogs are now 2-10 (0-4 AAC) this season, while Johnson is 9-4 (4-0 AAC). Up next for Union is a home conference doubleheader against Milligan on Thursday, March 13, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
