The Bulldogs fall short in doubleheader against Georgetown

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University softball team hosted Georgetown on Thursday in a doubleheader. Union fell short in each game.

 

Game One:

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Ryleigh Petrey was walked with the bases loaded, which allowed Tori Turner to score. In the bottom of the second inning, Kaley Harris registered a solo home run to give UCU a 2-0 lead.

Shaylin Lewis scored off a passed ball in the bottom of the fifth inning, but Georgetown won 13-3 in five innings. Jeweleyette Lilley, Carly Cain, Katie Fister, and Kaylee Lawson each pitched in the matchup for Union.

 

Game Two:

Union fell short 7-0 in seven innings. Turner led UCU in hits with two. Briley Robbins, Kinsley Redmon, and Ashleigh McLeskey each tallied one hit.

Lily Marsh allowed three earned runs and three hits in 2.1 innings pitched, while registering four strikeouts. Taylor Sain allowed three earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched.

 

The Bulldogs are now 2-4 this season, while Georgetown is now 3-5. Up next for UCU is a road conference doubleheader against Reinhardt on Saturday, March 1, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
