Women's tennis advances to 3-0; men fall short against Carson-Newman
HARROGATE, Tenn. – The No. 16 Union College women's tennis team defeated Carson-Newman 4-3 on Tuesday, Feb. 21, while the No. 13 Union men's team fell 6-1.
Women:
Union's Rin Igarashi and Karen Kondo won their doubles match 6-2. The Lady Bulldogs would win the double's point 2-1 as Carson-Newman forfeited the final matchup.
In singles competition, Igarashi and Kondo each picked up wins. Igarashi won in three games, while Kondo won 7-5, 6-1. The Lady Bulldogs' third point in singles play came from Nicole Viljoen, who won via forfeit.
Men:
In singles play, Henning Ebersohn won 6-4, 6-0. Ebersohn's victory was the only win of the day for the men's team as Carson-Newman won 6-1.
Up next for the men's team is a matchup against Belmont Abbey College on Friday, while the women's team plays at Brenau on Thursday.
