Kingsport, Tenn. – The No. 1 seeded Union College men's basketball team defeated No. 5 Johnson 85-73 on Friday in the AAC semifinals. The score was tied at halftime, but the Bulldogs led by as many as 16 points in the second half en route to the win.
Union's Markelo Sullivan tallied 20 points and eight rebounds, which led all players in each category. Sullivan also recorded two blocks.
Will Bailey recorded 19 points off the bench for the Bulldogs. Markelle Turner registered 16 points and five rebounds, while Deonte Douglas recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and five assists.
Anton Mozga registered eight points and six rebounds, while Terrin Hamilton tallied seven points, seven rebounds, and a game-leading three blocks. Sam Conley and Jay Falls also scored for the Bulldogs.
Union is now 24-6 this season, while Johnson is 16-13. The Bulldogs will play in the AAC finals on Saturday, March 2, at 1:00 p.m. against the winner of the No. 3 CIU vs. No. 2 Pikeville semifinal matchup.
